Clinton Hill Loft

1 of 12

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Type: Residential

Year: 2024

This loft celebrates the expansive ceilings and bright natural light of this former factory building. We designed a new kitchen and a series of tailored millwork interventions for the owners of this apartment. The kitchen is designed to be both an adaptable working kitchen and an object of display within the open plan living/dining room. Rooms are painted simply to reflect light throughout, and furnishings are designed for multi-functional use. Existing maple floors are refinished in a light sheen throughout providing a calm backdrop for the owners' verdant plant collection.

The kitchen features white oak cabinets paired with Carrara marble counters and sage green tiles. Unlaundered brass fixtures on the lower cabinets provide a spot of elegance that complement the found knobs above. Each room has purpose built millwork storage pieces that take advantage of awkward spaces and existing infrastructure. A custom chartreuse daybed in the guest room complements the variety of green tones throughout the home and is paired with a birch side table which cleverly hides a cat's litter box.
